LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

The dessert bourbon. The port finish smooths out every rough edge, creating a spirit that is dangerously drinkable and genuinely unique in a crowded market.

The Library Note

Created by Lincoln Henderson, the Master Distiller who developed Woodford Reserve, Angel's Envy was one of the first brands to champion 'secondary maturation' in bourbon. The name comes from the 'Angel's Share'—the 5% of spirit lost to evaporation each year. Henderson joked that while the angels got their share—what was left in the barrel was so good, it was their envy.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Decadent notes of maple syrup, vanilla, and toasted nuts with a clear vein of berry fruit.

THE PALATE

Silky and complex. Traditional caramel and vanilla flavors are elevated by notes of ripe fruit, chocolate, and creamy port wine.

THE FINISH

Clean and lingering with a distinct lack of burn, leaving a sweet Madeira-like warmth.

THE PERFECT SERVE

Neat. The port finish is delicate, and adding too much ice or mixer can wash out the subtle berry notes that make it special.

Composition

Malted Barley
Corn
Rye
Spring Water

EXPERT TECHNIQUE

Aged for 4-6 years in new American white oak barrels, then finished specifically in 60-gallon ruby port wine casks for 3-6 months.
