LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

A triumph of branding and liquid quality. While the 'hunt' for the eight different horse stoppers is a obsession for many, the spirit inside remains one of the most consistently excellent and balanced single barrels in existence.

The Library Note

Created in 1984 by Elmer T. Lee as the world's first modern single barrel bourbon, it was named after Colonel Albert B. Blanton. Each individual bottle is hand-filled from a single barrel taken from the famous 'Warehouse H'—the only metal-clad warehouse at Buffalo Trace, where the temperature swings create a faster, more intense wood interaction.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Rich and spicy with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and a hint of dried orange peel and vanilla.

THE PALATE

Sweet and full. Deep caramel and honey characterize the start, followed by a sophisticated rye spice, burnt sugar, and a touch of leather.

THE FINISH

Medium to long with a persistent glow of spicy oak and a final hit of sweet corn.

Sensory Profile

A higher-rye mash bill (Mash Bill #2), aged in Warehouse H and bottled from individual barrels to ensure a unique, artisanal profile in every bottle.
