The Library Note
Inspired by a recipe created by his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit in the 1830s, Tom Bulleit revived the family legacy in 1987. By using a significantly higher rye content than traditional bourbons, Bulleit carved out a niche for those who wanted a spirit that was ' Frontier-style'—rugged, spicy, and uncompromisingly bold.
THE PERFECT SERVE
The 'Bulleit Old Fashioned': 2 oz Bulleit Bourbon, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, 0.5 oz simple syrup. The high-rye spice cuts through the sugar to ensure the cocktail remains balanced and spirit-forward.
Composition
EXPERT TECHNIQUE
A high-rye mash bill (approx. 28% rye), distilled and aged in charred American oak, and bottled at a robust 90 proof.
