The Library Note
Guillermo Sauza, a fifth-generation tequilero, launched Fortaleza in 2005 to revive the old-world traditions his family (the Sauzas) had lost when they sold their big brand. Produced in a tiny distillery that feels like a museum, every drop is crushed by stone and bottled in hand-blown glass, creating a spirit that tastes of history.
THE PERFECT SERVE
Neat in a copita glass. To mix it is almost a crime, though it makes a Margarita that will ruin you for all others.
Composition
EXPERT TECHNIQUE
Stone-crushed agave (Tahona), fermented in small wood open-air tanks, and double distilled in tiny copper pot stills. Bottled with a hand-painted stopper.
