LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

The ultimate insider's whiskey. Before Irish whiskey became cool again, this was the bottle that people in the know hunted down. It remains one of the freshest, most vibrant distillates in the world.

The Library Note

Originally produced for the Mitchell family wine merchants in Dublin, who would send their empty sherry casks to the distillery to be filled. They marked the casks with spots of paint to indicate age—Green Spot was the 10-year. It survived the collapse of the Irish whiskey industry to become a cult icon.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Fresh and aromatic. Distinct notes of green apple, pear drops, and barley.

THE PALATE

Spicy and soft. A beautiful mix of spicy pot still character (clove, pepper) and sweet orchard fruits, with hints of toasted oak.

THE FINISH

Long and aromatic with a fading barley sweetness.
