LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

The reliable workhorse of the tequila world. While it lacks the purity of a 100% agave spirit, its consistent sweetness and approachability make it the archetypal mixing tequila.

The Library Note

Founded in 1795 by Jose María Guadalupe de Cuervo, the distillery was the first in Mexico to receive an official permit to produce tequila. Today, the 10th-generation family-run business produces Especial Gold at La Rojeña, the oldest active distillery in Latin America.
