The Library Note
Founded in 1810 by Abraham Overholt in West Overton, Pennsylvania, this is America's oldest continually produced whiskey brand. It was famously the preferred drink of Doc Holliday and Ulysses S. Grant. Today, it represents the archetypal 'Monongahela' style of rye—bold, citrusy, and unpretentiously spicy.
THE PERFECT SERVE
The 'Classic Manhattan': 2 oz Old Overholt, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Its high-rye spice is the perfect anchor for the vermouth's richness, creating the specific 'bite' that defined the pre-prohibition era.
Composition
EXPERT TECHNIQUE
A mash bill of at least 51% rye, column-distilled and matured for four years in charred American oak. Recent updates have moved it to a non-chill filtered process to maintain its robust texture.
