LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

A rum that thinks it's a cognac. Its depth of wood influence and syrupy texture makes it one of the finest sipping spirits in existence.

The Library Note

Produced in the highlands of Guatemala, Zacapa is aged in the 'House Above the Clouds' at 2,300 meters, where the cool air slows the aging process and allows for a more delicate development of flavor. Each bottle is adorned with a hand-woven 'petate' band, a Mayan tradition representing the unity of time and space.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Great intensity with notes of sweet fruit, vanilla, almond, chocolate, and toasted oak.

THE PALATE

Very full-bodied and indulgent. Layers of dried fruit, spicy oak, honey, and dark chocolate with a silky texture.

THE FINISH

Exceptionally long and smooth with a warming honey glow.

Best enjoyed neat or with a single, large ice cube in a heavy crystal glass. Its complexity is so vast that mixers only serve to hide its brilliance.
