The Library Note

Founded in 1830 by the MacAskill brothers, Talisker is the oldest distillery on the Isle of Skye. The distillery's slogan, 'Made by the Sea,' is literal; its peat is infused with sea salt and its maturation warehouses are pounded by Atlantic spray. Robert Louis Stevenson famously described it as 'The king o' drinks, as I conceive it.'

THE NOSE

Powerful peat-smoke with a salty sea-water saltiness, the liquor of fresh oysters, and a citrus sweetness.

THE PALATE

A rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavors. Warming and intense with a massive peppery kick at the back of the mouth.

THE FINISH

Huge, long, warming and peppery finish with an appetizing sweetness.
