LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

A modern classic. It proves Irish whiskey can be bold and flavorful. The rum finish is not a gimmick; it completely integrates with the spirit to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

The Library Note

The Teeling family has a whiskey heritage dating back to 1782, but in 2015 they opened the first new distillery in Dublin in 125 years. The Small Batch is their flagship, designed to cut through the 'smooth and boring' stereotype of Irish whiskey by finishing it in Central American rum casks for added spice and dried fruit notes.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Inviting and sweet. Vanilla, spice, and rum raisin.

THE PALATE

Creamy and spicy. The rum influence brings notes of dried fruit (apricot, sultana) and brown sugar, balanced by a prickly wood spice.

THE FINISH

Sweet and spicy finish.
