LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

A modern classic. It is the gold standard for finished whiskies, proving that a judicious use of sherry can enhance, rather than overwhelm, a delicate Highland spirit.

The Library Note

Produced at a distillery that still grows its own barley and uses traditional floor maltings, The Balvenie is a tribute to craft. The DoubleWood, created by Malt Master David Stewart in 1993, is matured in traditional oak casks for 12 years before being 'finished' in sherry oak casks, creating a depth and richness that is unique to the house.
