LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

The people's champion. It is unpretentious and widely available, yet because of its high-quality malt content, it delivers a sherry-rich smoothness that punches well above its price.

The Library Note

Created in 1896 by Matthew Gloag in Perth, it was originally called 'The Grouse Brand' after Scotland's national game bird. It became so popular that 'Famous' was added in 1905. Uniquely, its blend is built around high proportions of sherry-cask aged malts from two of the world's most revered distilleries.

Light and crisp with notes of candied fruits, shortbread, and citrus peel.

THE PALATE
