LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

Authentic Gascony in a glass. While Cognac is refined and polished, this Armagnac is raw, powerful, and full of character. It tastes of the earth and the wood.

The Library Note

Francis Darroze was a chef who began hunting for the best single-estate barrels in Gascony to serve in his restaurant. He became known as the 'Pope of Armagnac.' Unlike big Cognac houses that blend for consistency, Darroze celebrates the unique character of small growers and the specific terroir of the Bas-Armagnac sand.

Sommelier's Perspective

Intense and spicy. Aromas of prune, candied orange peel, leather, and toast.

THE PALATE

Full-bodied and rustic. Rich flavors of dried figs, licorice, and distinct woody tannins that grip the palate.

THE FINISH

Long, warm, and spicy.
