LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

The ultimate refresher. It bridges the gap between a mint liqueur and a serious amaro, making it the perfect post-dinner palate cleanser.

The Library Note

Created in the mid-20th century, Branca Menta was inspired by opera singer Maria Callas, who famously drank her Fernet with fresh mint leaves before performances. The Fratelli Branca distillery decided to bottle this combination, creating a digestif that is both bracingly bitter and icily refreshing.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Blast of fresh mint. Intense peppermint dominates, with background notes of dark chocolate, herbs, and roots.

THE PALATE

Sweet and cooling. The bitterness of the aloe and gentian is softened by sugar and a powerful, numbing minty freshness.

THE FINISH

Long, cool, and digestive.
