The Library Note
Founded in 1715, Martell is the oldest of the 'Big Four' houses. Their V.S.O.P is unique for its use of red barrels—casks that have already aged eaux-de-vie for years—allowing the natural character of the grapes to shine through without being masked by heavy oak tannins.
THE PERFECT SERVE
The 'French Highball': Pour 1.5 oz Martell over ice and top with premium soda water. Its lack of aggressive tannins makes it exceptionally refreshing and reveals the delicate fruit notes often hidden in brandies.
Composition
EXPERT TECHNIQUE
Distillation of only clear wines (without lees) followed by maturation in fine-grained oak barrels that have already reached their 'red' stage.
