The Library Note
Created in collaboration between Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel and cocktail historian David Wondrich, this formula was modeled after a rare 1840 bottle of Pinet Castillon. It captures the spirit of the Grande Champagne region with a higher 45% ABV (90 proof) to ensure it stands out in classic serves like the Sazerac or Mint Julep.
THE PERFECT SERVE
The Classic Sazerac: Rinse a chilled glass with Absinthe. Stir 2 oz Pierre Ferrand 1840, 1/4 oz simple syrup, and 3 dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters with ice. Strain into the glass and garnish with a lemon peel expressed over the top.
