LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

A masterclass in historical reconstruction. It is perhaps the most versatile Cognac ever bottled for a bartender—possessing the backbone to withstand citrus and bitters while remaining elegantly sippable.

The Library Note

Created in collaboration between Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel and cocktail historian David Wondrich, this formula was modeled after a rare 1840 bottle of Pinet Castillon. It captures the spirit of the Grande Champagne region with a higher 45% ABV (90 proof) to ensure it stands out in classic serves like the Sazerac or Mint Julep.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Fresh apricot, ripe peach, and subtle vanilla with a hint of orange zest and acacia blossom.

THE PALATE

Rich and full-bodied with dried fruit, caramel, and toasted almond, complemented by white pepper and cinnamon.

THE FINISH

A long, satisfying finish with oak tannins, honey sweetness, and a gentle warmth.
