LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

The sweet spot of Tawny. 10 years is too simple, 40 years is too woody. 20 years is perfection—fresh enough to be vibrant, old enough to be profound.

The Library Note

Taylor Fladgate is one of the oldest and most respected port houses, founded in 1692. Unlike ruby ports which age in large vats to keep their fruit, tawny ports age in smaller casks (pipes), allowing oxidation to transform the wine from red and fruity to amber and nutty.
