LIBRARIAN'S VERDICT

A triumph of terroir. It manages to balance an incredible 31 botanicals without ever feeling cluttered, offering a sophisticated, 'green' profile that is unlike any other gin on the market.

The Library Note

Created by former Master Distiller Jim McEwan, The Botanist was Islay's first dry gin. It is a slow-distilled masterpiece that uses two local botanists to forage the island's bogs and hills for its unique ingredients, which are then processed in a salvaged Lomond still nicknamed 'Ugly Betty'.

Sommelier's Perspective

THE NOSE

Explosive herbal complexity with notes of wild mint, lemon balm, and sweet chamomile, underpinned by a soft juniper finish.

THE PALATE

Rich and mellow with a cool start that quickly evolves into a warm, peppery citrus and a symphony of floral notes including elderflower and gorse.

THE FINISH

Clean and dry with a remarkably long, satisfying herbal linger.
