The Library Note
Introduced in 1840 as a more approachable alternative to the high-proof Green Chartreuse, the Yellow expression uses the same 130 botanicals but in different proportions. It is sweetened with honey and colored naturally with saffron, reflecting a more delicate side of the Carthusian botanical tradition.
THE PERFECT SERVE
The 'Alaska Cocktail': 1.5 oz Gin, 0.5 oz Yellow Chartreuse, 1 dash orange bitters. Stirred and served in a chilled coupe. The Yellow Chartreuse adds a luxurious, honeyed texture that softens the gin's botanicals.
Composition
EXPERT TECHNIQUE
Maceration of 130 botanicals followed by distillation and aging in oak. Saffron is used for the natural yellow color, and honey is added for sweetness.
